Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our nation was born on October 2, 1869.He led our nation in our struggle for freedom. Truth and Non-violence were his only tools in the fight against the British. His way of fighting was Satyagraha. He taught us to be honest and truthful.He suffered many hardships for the freedom of our country. He was sent to prison many times, but he suffered all this for the good of the country.Believed in social equality.He he was loved by all his countrymen. We respectfully call Bapu or Father of the Nation.Gandhi Study Circle began in 1961 with the idea of instilling national values among students. Therefore, the study circle formulated various programs in which students participate. Many staff of the various departments have contributed to the success of this study circle. To celebrate the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2, students are informed well in advance of the essay writing competition, to be held in September. Relevant books on Gandhi and nationalism are issued by the library in time for students to prepare for the contest. This exercise allows students to become aware of the contribution of Gandhi to the nation. The pending trials prizes are awarded on the day of Gandhi Jayanthi.
In 2005, when the NAAC Committee visited the university, one of the members of NAAC Mr. Kuroop Committee, Rt. Rector of the University of Kerala on the activities of Gandhi Study Circle. He suggested the introduction of a complement ongoing studies Gandhi.
Therefore, on the recommendation of the university authorities they gave approval to start a certificate course in Gandhian Studies. Under the home of Dr. T. Padma, Department of Political Science, the Add-on course was inaguarated on 4 September 2010. The inauguration took place in the HN Multimedia Hall and the main guest was Sri. D.N.Anand. He laid the foundation for the course talking about principles of Gandhi and its relevance to the contemporary scene.

Special features of the curriculum:
The Syallabus comprises two papers of 100 marks each. It is a document of the theory and the other requires students to do a dissertation.
The curriculum focuses on the influence of Gandhi on Indian and Western thinkers, historical events of the philosophy of Gandhi, on ethics, moral, religious and social philosophy of Gandhi. The program offers a vision of Gandhi-all, as a writer, humorist, philosopher, as the maker of modern India.
Social work and field work is an integral part of the course. Participation in the service and social work field is mandatory for all students. Students must submit a report on the basis of field study it will be evaluated as a separate document. The camp takes place during the mid-term holidays and is a residential camp in a village in a period of one week, with the participation of students in constructive activities. This camp brings an awareness of the need for education and cleaning. Students study the problems of the people and collecting data being evaluated later by them. This thesis report is evaluated for 50 brands and fieldwork to fetch students 50 marks.
Grading system:
Students must submit papers on the topics proposed during the course. Finally they have to appear for an examination to qualify for the course.

In collaboration with the Gandhi Memorial Trust of Karnataka, a conference was organized by the Center for Studies of our school Gandhi to promote the ideals of Gandhi. This took place on 09/19/2005. The conferences were held in the lives of great personalities and their works. Trial and Debate competitions were held and as a thank you, prizes in the form of books written by Gandhi were presented to students. (10/02/05) Our students also participated in the programs of the Gandhi Study Centre at the University of Bangalore.
In collaboration with the Center for Communal Harmony Karnataka, a conference was organized by the Gandhi Study Centre of our school to promote the ideals of Gandhi. This took place in 02.10.2006.Essay conference and competitions were held and as a token of appreciation, awards in the form of books written on Gandhi were presented to students. (02/10/06).
Gandhi Studies Centre of our Association organized various programs to promote the ideals of Gandhi. Prof. TR Shyam Bhat, Director Retired APS College, Bangalore gave a lecture on "The Life and Views of Gandhi 'Students sang bhajans that were close to the heart of Gandhi.
Gandhi Studies Centre of our university in collaboration with the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Centre for Science and Human Values, Bangalore organized a Conference Program by the Commissioner of Police of the State of Karnataka, Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh 18-09 -08.The theme was 'Police and Poetry'.
b) On the 139th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi a "Shramadhan 'program was organized on 10/02/2009. Participants were students from the University NSS. Students recalled the memory of Gandhi bhajans that were immensely appreciated by Gandhi.
