Information about Gandhi Jayanti

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated as a national holiday in India to celebrate the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the "Father of the Nation". Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869; so every year Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on this day. It is observed in all states and union territories of India as one of the three official declared National Holidays of India.
The June 15, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly October 2 announced that the International Day of Non-Violence is celebrated.
Gandhi had a natural love of "truth" and "duty". With its complete dedication and confidence, Gandhi freed India from British rule and showed the world that freedom can be achieved with non-violence. Even today he encouraged his teachings to stay away from violence and find peaceful solutions to conflicts. For Gandhi, Truth and Non-violence was his whole philosophy of life.Celebration
Mahatma Gandhi was a man of simple tastes and values. To keep that in mind and giving full honor and respect the festivities on this day are very less.
The President and the Prime Minister, along with other political leaders pay tribute to Raj Ghat, the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi. To honor Gandhi respect for all religions and communities, representatives of different religions participate in the prayer meeting held at Raj Ghat. Prayers and verses are read in the holy books of all religions. The favorite song of Mahatma Gandhi Raghupati Raghava 'usually sings in all meetings related to it.
Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated throughout the country and governmental and nongovernmental organizations. Since it is a national holiday all schools, colleges and offices across the country remain closed.
